“All of us
at the State University of New York are saddened by the senseless and tragic
shooting at the American Civic Association in Binghamton.
“This incident strikes close to home for us. It occurred at a facility
dedicated to building a better life through learning. We also know that
two research scholars at Binghamton University and the mother of a recent SUNY
graduate were among those killed, and that another visiting scholar and the
spouse of a graduate student were injured. Students lived in the building next
to the American Civic Association.
“Binghamton University President Lois DeFleur and her entire staff and
administration have done an exceptional job during these very challenging
times. And she knows that the SUNY community from across New York have the staff, faculty and students, and their families, in our thoughts and we
stand ready to help the people of Binghamton University and the Binghamton community in any way we can.
“We share the grief of the entire community and pray for healing.”
