New York City – The SUNY Board of Trustees today approved the appointment of Dr. Ann Marie Murray as President of Herkimer County Community College, at a salary of $130,000, effective August 11, 2008, as approved by the Board of Trustees at the College in May.

Dr. Murray currently is the vice president for academic affairs at Broome Community College, a post she has held since 2005.  In that capacity, she has been responsible for the oversight of all of the academic programs and functions of the college, including schools of business, liberal arts and human services, and applied science, continuing education, international education, learning resource center, teaching resource center, and online learning.  Dr. Murray will replace Ronald F. Williams, who served 22 years as president of HCCC.

SUNY Board of Trustees Chairman Carl T. Hayden said, “Herkimer County Community College recently celebrated 40 years of service to families and businesses in the Mohawk Valley, where the campus provides accessible and affordable education and training to thousands of students each year.  I am very confident that the search committee has found the ideal candidate to carry on the Herkimer tradition. On behalf of the Board and SUNY System Administration, I also wish to thank Ron Williams for his long and esteemed service as the campus’ president.”

Interim SUNY Chancellor Dr. John B. Clark said, “Dr. Murray’s wealth of experience in the community college sector – particularly at two of SUNY’s strongest campuses – is certain to bring great benefit to HCCC students, faculty and staff as well as the surrounding community. It has been my pleasure to recommend that this appointment and I commend the Board of Trustees at SUNY for naming Dr. Murray to this important position.”

Dr. Murray said, “I am very thankful to the SUNY Board of Trustees for their confidence in my ability to serve Herkimer County Community College as its third president. I look forward to working with the students, faculty, staff and trustees, as well as the community, to meet the challenges of moving this fine institution into the future.”
