“I congratulate Stony Brook
University President Shirley Strum Kenny today on earning the lifetime
achievement award, which she will receive later this evening from the Fulbright
Association, a Washington-based alumni group representing nearly 10,000
Fulbright grant recipients.
“President Kenny, who was a
Fulbright Fellow in 1957 and has been president of Stony Brook since 1994, has
elevated StonyBrookUniversity to a prominent position among the nation’s top research
universities. She is one of SUNY’s strongest and most effective leaders.
“This recognition from the
Fulbright Association, one of the most respected associations in the higher
education community, is a great honor and is much deserved.”
