Ben Casselman

Ben Casselman is an editor and writer for FiveThirtyEight, where he has covered such subjects as income inequality, education, criminal justice and the 2016 presidential election. A frequent speaker on topics in both journalism and economics, he serves as an adjunct lecturer at CUNY’s Graduate School of Journalism.

Prior to joining FiveThirtyEight, he was a national economics correspondent for The Wall Street Journal in New York. From 2008 to 2011, he covered the oil and gas industry for the Journal’s Dallas bureau, where his coverage of the Deepwater Horizon disaster in the Gulf of Mexico was a finalist for the 2011 Pulitzer Prize in national reporting and won a Gerald Loeb Award.

Ben is a graduate of Columbia University, he lives in New York.
