Programs :: U-Wide Programs

The SUNY CPD supports many University-Wide Programs in their work to serve the SUNY System.

Each of the programs is described below; and support services range from program management and registration, training coordination, conference and event planning, and marketing.

SUNY Learning Network (SLN):

The SUNY Learning Network is the State University of New York's award-winning online education program under the Office of the Provost. The SUNY CPD assists SLN in the coordination of the SLN Faculty Development Program.

SLN Workshop Schedule & Registration

Faculty Advisory Council on Teaching and Technology (FACT²):

Created in 1989 as FACT (Faculty Access to Computing Technology), the FACT² Council is an advisory group to the Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs. The SUNY CPD supports FACT² in the following ways:

• Conference on Instructional Technologies (CIT) Conference Management
• FACT² Website Maintenance
• FACT² Listserv(s) Management

Information Technology Exchange Center (ITEC) Technical Training Program:

ITEC has an agreement with the SUNY CPD for offering an ITEC Technical Training Program. This program:

• determines the level of training campus personnel need at the various levels of service they receive from ITEC
• performs an ITEC-wide needs assessment
• offers training based on the needs of ITEC members

SUNYConnect:

SUNYConnect is a joint initiative of the SUNY Provost's Office of Library & Information Services (OLIS) and the libraries of the 64 SUNY campuses to share collections and services across the State University of New York.

The SUNY CPD has coordinated ALEPH, SFX, Gale InfoTrac, ScienceDirect, and ARTstor workshops for the SUNYConnect Project.

Academic Software Initiative (ASI):

University-wide contracts for a suite of Academic Software that campuses can choose to purchase as part of the group. The SUNY CPD will coordinate training on the following software in this group: ESRI (All ArcView/ArcGIS Products), Maple, Minitab, Mathematica.

Student Information & Campus Administrative Systems (SICAS) / Banner Initiative:

The SICAS Center develops common software and services for those campuses using Banner Software in New York State. The SUNY CPD:

• assists SICAS in the coordination of Banner synchronous online training
• coordinates and implements customized training curricula for campuses participating in the Banner Initiative

SkillSoft e-Learning Program

The SkillSoft e-Learning Initiative offers a wide range of professional development opportunities to support all levels of the organization and can easily be adapted to meet strategic business initiatives, on-demand information needs, and individual job roles. SkillSoft provides:

• Learning paths which can be developed for specific job classifications
• Robust reporting that allows campuses to track employee progress toward learning paths
• Affordable professional development - available 24x7, anywhere, anytime
