New Faculty Pre-Training Check List:
Please complete the following checklist in preparation for SLN’s Workshop #1 - Introduction to Online Learning:
- Do you have your ANGEL account?
- Can you login to your ANGEL campus domain?
- Do you have your course shell or practice course shell?
- Do you have the faculty resources nugget with access to SLN 101 and faculty FAQs on your ANGEL homepage?
- Have you completed the faculty orientation?
- Have you had an orientation to SLN and online teaching at your campus?
- Are you in contact with your assigned campus-based instructional designer (ID)?
If not, please contact your ID prior to the training to address these issues.
Prerequisite: We recommend that you have some familiarity with ANGEL and navigation prior to this workshop, if you don’t, please see your campus-based instructional designer(ID).

Quality Matters SLN Workshop # 7:

This two-part training will explore the Quality Matters (QM) project and processes and will prepare you to be part of an initiative that positively impacts the design of your online courses. After successfully completing this training, you will be eligible to move into the online Peer Reviewer Certification module. In addition, you will gain ideas to improve your own courses using the SLN and QM tools.
PRELIMINARY WEBINAR: INTRODUCTION TO QUALITY MATTERS
In this two-hour webinar you will learn about Quality Matters (QM), its underlying principles, and the use of the QM Rubric in a collegial, course review process. This Webinar is a pre-requisite for the Applying the Quality Matters Rubric workshop.
Upon completion of the Introduction to QM Webinar, you will be able to
- Explain the Quality Matters (QM) process and underlying principles
- Describe the eight standards of the QM Rubric
- Explain the course review process
FACE-TO-FACE SESSION: APPLYING THE QUALITY MATTERS RUBRIC
In this two-hour workshop you will learn about the Quality Matters (QM) Rubric and process, how to score the rubric, how to write effective recommendations, and how to apply the QM Rubric to an actual online course.
Upon completion of the Applying the QM Rubric workshop, you will be able to
- Describe underlying principles of QM
- Explain the QM scoring system
- Write useful recommendations for course improvement
- Make decisions on whether or not a set of given scenarios meet the QM Rubric standards
- Showcase aspects of your own online course that now meet the QM standard(s) or that need improvement to meet the standards
