Who We Are... The SUNY Center for Professional Development (formerly SUNY Training Center) is a cooperative, voluntary organization funded by its members and the SUNY System. As a component of SUNY Learning Environments, a unit of the Office of the Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, the SUNY CPD is a special-purpose, system-wide organization that provides training and professional development opportunities for staff and faculty of our member institutions.
Our Vision... The SUNY Center for Professional Development will enhance the capacity of SUNY staff and faculty to meet the needs for education by offering quality training and development opportunities through dedication to service, partnership, and innovation.
How We Began... In 1989, the SUNY Center for Professional Development was initially established to centralize technical training and support for different campuses, areas, and departments. The SUNY CPD was established, along with three other programs (ITEC, SICAS, and LAIP), to support multi-campus, technology-related group activities targeted at improving the quality, quantity, and cost-effectiveness of campus-based and University-wide technology services.
