Albany – Genesee Community College marked the mid-way point of State University
of New York Chancellor Nancy L. Zimpher’s tour of all 64 SUNY campuses. The
64-campus tour is the first phase in the development of a strategic plan for
SUNY.
The chancellor has met with students, faculty and staff of the campuses
as well as community and business leaders, elected officials, alumni, members
of college councils and foundation boards and trustees of the community
colleges.
“I have been struck by the pride of each SUNY campus, the feeling that
‘we’re the best,’” said Chancellor Zimpher. “Developing a strategic
plan for SUNY requires input and then buy-in from all stakeholders, which means
we have to go and talk to people. By working in an inclusive and collaborative
way, we can succeed in making SUNY the finest system of higher education in the
Nation and a model for the world.”
Chancellor
Zimpher encourages all New Yorkers to participate in the strategic planning
process and to communicate their thoughts and ideas on improving SUNY by
sending her email at chancellor@suny.edu,
or by visiting the SUNY Web site.
