Role of the Group of 200
The "Group of 200" is charged with elaborating, through thoughtful debate and exchange of ideas, the guiding themes that will determine the future direction of SUNY. Those themes, initially identified through the Chancellor's 64-Campus Tour, describe the areas in which SUNY will have a significant positive impact on economic vitality and quality of life throughout the State of New York. In addition, the "Group of 200" will assist in keeping the larger University community aware of and informed about the ongoing planning process.
In particular the "Group of 200" will:
- Serve as active participants in the seven statewide
Conversations to be held during Phase II of the strategic planning
process and help translate the discussions at these sessions into
clearly delineated "big ideas" that will comprise the overarching
strategic goals of the Plan;
- Deliver feedback on the format and content of the Conversations to the Strategic Planning Steering Committee;
- Provide
continuity and linkages among the Conversations, as well as momentum
for the strategic planning process, through regular review of material
on the SUNY Strategic Planning web site (Conversation summaries, notes
from SPSC meetings, drafts of the emerging SUNY Strategic Plan, etc.)
and by participating in online comment and dialogue around these
materials; and
- Serve
as "ambassadors" for the strategic planning process by encouraging
colleagues and constituents to attend the Conversations, review the
planning web site and provide input to the planning process through
other avenues.
- The
Group is composed of a broad mix of SUNY faculty, staff, students and
alumni as well as community members and other external stakeholders in
SUNY and the State of New York.
- Serve as key messengers and thought leaders once the Plan is developed, communicating not only the important aspects of the Plan, but ensuring that the Plan gets implemented.
