Strategic Planning Steering Committee Role
The SUNY Strategic Planning Steering Committee plays a pivotal role shaping the development of SUNY's new Strategic Plan and ensuring that the planning process is inclusive and transparent and that the Plan is bold and transformative. In particular, the Committee:
- Distilled the results of Phase I of
the strategic planning process — the Chancellor's 64-campus tour — into eight
overarching themes that will be central to the Plan
- Attends the eight statewide Town Hall Conversations
held during Phase II of the strategic planning process and helps translate
discussions at these sessions into clearly delineated "big
ideas" that will comprise the overarching strategic goals of the Plan
- Approved the membership of the Group of 200 and assists
in actively involving the Group in generating input to the Plan
- Reviews and discusses working drafts of the Strategic
Plan and related background papers and analyses
- Helps ensure that the planning process appropriately
involves the full range of the University's campuses, constituents,
communities, partners and friends
- Assists in keeping the larger University Community
aware of and informed about the ongoing planning process and regularly
updates the SUNY Board of Trustees Strategic Planning Task Force
- Approves the final draft of the Strategic Plan
