Chancellor
Nancy L. Zimpher is conducting one of the
most expansive strategic planning processes in higher education. Phase I, a visiting tour of all 64 SUNY campuses
concluded in September 2009. Phase II, currently underway,
consists of eight Statewide Conversations. The first of which that was held at Hudson Valley Community
College addressed the overarching theme of Ensuring
Economic Vitality and the Quality of Life, and
the following seven conversations scheduled through March 2010 address each of the
Themes identified during Phase
I. These Statewide Conversations are
attended by a "Group of 200", made up of students, faculty, staff, and business and
community leaders. At each meeting,
these stakeholders contribute directly to the planning process, bringing a
unique perspective from the diversity of both their institutions and their
roles. Input from the Group of 200 is
analyzed and refined by a Steering Committee and is used as the foundation for developing the objectives and
goals for the SUNY Strategic Plan, to be launched in the spring of 2010. Please put your fingerprint on this important
undertaking and participate.
