Susan McDermott with a Student

I retired at 62 to spend time caring for my elderly relatives and teaching as an adjunct. My adjustment was most pleasant because I did not give up what I love to do-teaching. I gained personal freedom to decide exactly how I can enjoy each day of my "golden years" while improving on my health and green habits. Since I have had years of volunteer service as a young teacher (VISTA, National Teacher Corps, Urban Institute, Title I), I want to resume giving to my community in ways that reward me with accomplishment and contentment.
