Mission

The Office of University Life supports the mission of the State University by leading student affairs professionals and other members of the campus community to provide the highest quality student living/learning environment. University Life provides professional development, promotes best practices and is a leader in policy formation and interpretation.

Overview

The Office of University Life supports and provides leadership to a wide range of offices within the student affairs framework.

The Office:

  • works with both state-operated campuses and community colleges;
  • reviews and develop policies and procedures;
  • supports educational opportunities focusing on best practices;
  • work with internal offices and respond to external constituents;
  • support a number of functional areas and act as a liaison to various professional groups within SUNY; and
  • works with the Student Assembly, various subcommittees of the Board of Trustees, the University Faculty Senate and the Faculty Council of Community Colleges.

Additionally, the Office of University Life plays a leadership role in a number of University-wide programs including:

  • the Chancellor's Committee on Campus Safety;
  • the Chancellor's Awards for Student Excellence;
  • the Chancellor's Scholar Athletes Awards; and
  • Outstanding Student Affairs Program Awards
  • coordinating University-wide voter registration efforts.

We also work closely with students, parents and other interested parties who are concerned about various issues such as academic policies and procedures, financial aid, housing, student activities and environmental issues. We work with the student and the campus to resolve these issues on a case-by-case basis.
