The Office of Diversity and Educational Equity (ODEE) promotes equal access, meaningful academic and intellectual inclusion in curriculum, research and service, and holistic integration of our state's underrepresented and economically disadvantaged populations into the academic culture of higher education at all levels. Through its various initiatives to enhance diversity and equity, ODEE will strengthen SUNY's ability to create knowledge of benefit to society and educate new generations of students for leadership positions in our culturally diverse and globalized environment.

2010 Explorations in Diversity and Academic Excellence RFP
The Office of Diversity and Educational Equity (ODEE) invites applications from the state-operated universities and colleges of SUNY for support for innovative approaches that illuminate and strengthen the intersections between diversity and academic excellence.
Projects eligible for funding include, but are not limited to, improving the campus climate, improving access and success for students, course development and pedagogical innovations, conferences and symposia, film and speakers series, recruitment and retention of diverse faculty, campus-community dialogues, campus surveys that can be used to further any of the above, and other comparable programs. Proposals for projects that promote collaboration among campus units (for example, inter-departmental, faculty-student organizations, administrative-departmental) are especially encouraged.
ODEE will award up to $10,000 to support individual campus-based projects for the period beginning July 1, 2010 and ending on June 30, 2011.The application deadline is April 15, 2010.

STEM Doctoral Diversity Fellowship Awards
The Office of Diversity and Educational Equity announces the recipients of the inaugural SUNY Doctoral Diversity Fellowships in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) for the 2009-2010 academic year:
Mr. Justin R. Garcia: Binghamton University, Biological Sciences.
He received his BS in Neuroscience and Behavioral Development from Binghamton University.
Ms. Ashley E. Raba: Binghamton University, Bio-Medical Engineering.
She received her BS in Bio-Engineering from Binghamton University.
Ms. Diana M. Orozco: Stony Brook University, Bio-Medical Sciences.
She received her BS in Biology at the University of San Diego.
Mr. Carlos D. Cedeno: University at Buffalo, Molecular Pharmacology and Cancer Therapeutics.
He received his BS in Psychology from the University at Buffalo.
