Chancellor Invites Nominations

MEMORANDUM

I am pleased to invite you to nominate your faculty and professionals for a Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Faculty Service, Librarianship, Professional Service, Scholarship and Creative Activities, and Teaching. One of the State University’s distinctions is the wealth of accomplished educators and consummate professionals among its ranks. The Excellence Awards are a recognition of, and tribute to, these individuals’ expertise, dedication and commitment. These awards underscore SUNY’s appreciation of faculty and staff who serve our campuses and students. Award recipients personify professional excellence and serve as role models for the State University of New York community and its motto – “To Learn, To Search, To Serve.”

Please note an important change from the previous academic years concerning the Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching. Effective academic year 2012-2013, Clinical Health Science Centers (HSC) faculty, who are eligible, can be nominated for an Excellence Award in the Teaching category. It is my hope, with this modification, that we are more able to appropriately reward our very dedicated and admirable faculty who are worthy of this merit. Campus nomination allocations will be sent to you under separate cover in late September or early October when the data is available for all campuses, and will be posted on the website noted below at that time.

Attached are the Policies and Procedures for academic years 2012-2013 and 2013-2014 (available electronically on the State University of New York’s website at http://www.suny.edu/provost/academic_affairs/academic_affairs.cfm). The deadline for receipt of nominations at the System-level is Tuesday, February 19, 2013 for academic year 2012-2013 and Tuesday, February 18, 2014 for academic year 2013-2014.
