Academic Programs, Planning and Assessment

The Office of Academic Programs, Planning and Assessment oversees academic program development and review across disciplines and award levels at all State University of New York campuses (including state-operated, community and statutory colleges/universities) on behalf of the Board of Trustees. The Office ensures that campus planning is consistent with the University’s strategic plan, The Power of SUNY, and with University policies such as those relating to assessment, general education, and student mobility and transfer.

As part of the University’s commitment to respond to emerging programmatic needs, and in support of innovation and New York State’s economic vitality, the Office has streamlined and aligned its procedures with state and federal regulations. Working with the U.S. Department of Education, the State Education Department and other agencies, as well as the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, the Office of Academic Programs, Planning and Assessment promotes strategic program development that is consistent with campus mission, market need and the highest standards of academic quality.
