Academic Programs, Planning and Assessment
On behalf of the Board of Trustees and the SUNY Provost, the Office of Academic Programs and Planning coordinates academic program planning across disciplines and award levels at all State University of New York campuses, including state-operated, community and statutory colleges/universities. The Office ensures that academic program plans on campuses are consistent with the University’s strategic plan, The Power of SUNY, and with University policies and procedures, such as those relating to assessment, general education, student mobility and transfer, and off-campus instruction.
As part of the University’s commitment to respond to emerging programmatic needs, and in support of innovation and New York State’s economic vitality, the Office has streamlined and aligned its forms and procedures with state, federal and accreditation requirements. Working with the U.S. Department of Education, the State Education Department and other agencies, as well as the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, the Office promotes strategic academic program planning that is consistent with campus mission, market need and the highest standards of academic quality.
