The SUNY Assessment Initiative: Resources for Campuses

The SUNY Assessment Initiative (SAI) is a comprehensive program that has earned national recognition for its use of best practices in campus based assessment. It is sustained by partnerships of campus faculty and administrators, the University Faculty Senate (UFS) and the Faculty Council of Community Colleges (FCCC) and the Office of the Provost at SUNY System Administration.

Components of the SUNY Assessment Initiative

1. General Education - Campus based assessment of student leaning in the student learning outcome areas established by the SUNY General Education requirement (SUNY GER), including assessment of three learning outcomes areas (math, writing and critical thinking) with externally referenced measures as part of Strengthened Campus Based Assessment (SCBA).

3. Student Engagement - Assessment of student engagement in academic activities using the National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) at baccalaureate campuses and the Community College Survey of Student Engagement (CCSSE) at community colleges.
