One Day Conference Impact of Aging in Higher Education
Future for Long Term Care and Workforce Needs

The New York State Office for the Aging, State University of New York and the Albany Guardian Society held a one-day conference, Project 2015: Impact of Aging in Higher Education – Future Long Term Care Workforce Needs, sponsored by the SUNY Conversations in the Disciplines grant program. The conference was held on Tuesday April 5, 2005 at the Desmond Hotel and Conference Center in Albany, NY from 8:15 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The intent of the Conversation was to bring together the university community interested in the fields of social work, nursing, geriatric rehabilitation, geriatric medicine and paraprofessional healthcare to discuss how students are being prepared for the long term care workforce needs of the future. The program emphasized scholarly and creative development of curricula across disciplines and independent and collaborative long term care practice models,

The concept for this event was developed as part of Project 2015, a future oriented initiative taking place in New York State to prepare for the impact of our aging and increasingly diverse population. If you have further questions, please contact Dr. Catherine Regan, Project 2015 Director for the State University of New York.
