Westchester Community College Opens Gateway Center

Westchester Community College opened its Gateway Center in Fall 2010 to create new, dynamic opportunities by teaching students essential academic, business and technology skills.

The new 70,000 square foot building hosts the college’s Business Programs; Professional Development Center, which provides workforce training to local companies and their employees; Modern Language Programs; International Student Services; a Volunteer Center; and the English Language Institute, the county’s largest English as a Second Language educational resource.

Instructional space, offices, and technology labs will stimulate multidisciplinary synergy. With a Welcome Center, café, auditorium and conference rooms, the Gateway Center will be a magnet for education, collaboration and exchange.

The building is the first certified “green” building in Westchester County, relying on recycled materials and natural lighting. The design includes a 3-story glass lobby, stone walls and an illuminated tower to symbolize the college's welcome to all those who seek an education, regardless of their country of birth.
