Clinton Community College Partners with Aircraft Repair Company on Workforce Training

When Laurentian Aerospace Corp. obtained funding in December 2010 to renew its effort to build a 273,000 square-foot hangar at Plattsburgh International Airport, Clinton Community College offered to train area residents to populate its workforce.

Through its existing partnership with Plattsburgh Aeronautical Institute, the college will offer courses to train employees in administration, accounting, bookkeeping and other areas specifically for work at Laurentian.

The $175 million Laurentian project bring state-of-the-art maintenance, repair and overhaul to aircrafts at the local airport. By the time construction is finished on the facility, the company expects to have created 900 jobs in all.

CCC already allows students to complete their FAA certification through its partnership with the Aeronautical Institute, and enroll with a year of advanced training toward an associate’s degree.
