SUNY Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital A Success After One Year

Golisano HospitalPediatric admissions at Upstate rose 39 percent in the first year of operation of the Golisano Children’s Hospital at SUNY Upstate Medical Center.

From September 2009 to September 2010, the number of pediatric cases increased to 4,150, up from 2,984 from September 2008 to September 2009. In addition, the hospital cared for children from 43 of New York’s 62 counties.

The children’s hospital has also helped in the recruitment of numerous pediatric specialists, including a pulmonologist, gastroenterologist and two pediatric surgeons. The hospital has brought greater interest from new doctors from as far away as California who are looking for a place to do their residency.

The hospital features 71 private patient rooms with in-room sleep accommodations for families, plus a host of amenities, including lounges, playrooms, café, solarium, performance and family resource center.
