T.H. Biomedical Engineer (SL3)

This title is in the unclassified service and in the SUNY Professional Services Negotiating Unit.

As a family, Biomedical Engineering positions are responsible for the investigation and design, development and construction of not readily available biomedical instrumentation, make special Biomedical equipment purchases, repairs, preparation, and maintenance of electronic devices used in specialty areas (Radiology, Clinical Pathology, Respiratory Therapy, Dialysis, etc.) in support of the delivery of quality patient care and research.

Consults with faculty and researchers in the development and construction of scientific and medical instrumentation and devices, thus assisting in their instructional activities.

While individual duties and responsibilities may reflect one specialty or combined specialties, the duties and responsibilities of the Biomedical Engineering Specialist generally reflects the level, breadth and scope at which these incumbents function.

Preferred Qualifications:

Minimally BS in Biomedical or Clinical Engineering or BS major in Electronics, Digital or Analog Theory and Physics and at least one year experience in electronics industry, or equivalent experience in a biomedical environment.
