Television Engineer (SL4)

This title is in the unclassified service and in the SUNY Professional Services Negotiating Unit.

These positions are found only at the SUNY New York Network in one of three distinct areas of responsibility; transmission production or maintenance.

Those positions in transmission are television technical operators and supervising master control switchers. They execute the daily program 109 and are responsible for playback and recording of television programs and evaluation of tapes for E.C.C. standards. They supervise student assistants and technical staff who operate cameras, sound equipment, lights, projectors and other equipment.

Those positions in production are designated technical director, video editor audio mixer, or videographer and perform with a high degree of technical expertise, such tasks as electronic and special effects, audio mixing, camera and microphone placement, and videotape editing and make-up. These positions require a high degree of artistic ability in addition to sophisticated technical skills.

Those positions in maintenance require personnel with a high level of electronic engineering training and experience and familiarity with digital and logic circuit technology for purposes of installing, troubleshooting, and repairing the full range of television broadcasting equipment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in the field of electronics or satisfactory experience in commercial television broadcasting.
