Director of Admissions and Positions (SL6)

These titles are in the unclassified service and in the SUNY Professional Services Negotiating Unit. These titles are in Appendix A of the SUNY Policies of the Board of Trustees and, as a consequence, incumbents serving in these titles are not eligible for permanent appointment (tenure), but, instead receive five year renewable term appointments.

As a family, admissions positions are responsible for the student recruitment and admissions program at a campus. The office is involved with every aspect of this endeavor, from highest level of policy development to working with students with respect to individual admissions.

Directs the campus admissions program.

Has additional responsibilities, such as student records, financial aid, enrollment planning, or graduate admissions. Recommends the hiring and supervises the training of the professional and classified staff.

As a person most aware of external factors, has a primary responsibility in providing input to the decision-making process to the President, academic staff, and faculty committees concerned with the development of admissions policy and the admissions process generally.

Supervises and recommends policy in other areas of responsibility.

Preferred Qualifications:

A Master's degree. Significant experience in admissions, enrollment planning and other areas supervised, as appropriate, is required. Managerial and supervisory experience is also required.
