Associate for Continuing Education (SL4)

This title is in the unclassified service and in the SUNY Professional Services Negotiating Unit.

Positions in this family are involved in the administration of a continuing education program at a campus, which may include credit and non-credit evening and other courses, special institutes and workshops, long and short-term courses for professional, business, and labor organizations, alumni and cultural offerings, and general studies for the culturally disadvantaged. A continuing education program reflects a concern with the continuing educational development of the individual, offering counseling to identify experiences and interests by relating them to the academic credit and non-credit offerings of the campus. Such a program may be designed in conjunction with business, industry, and units of state and local government in developing career service programs to meet the needs of employees in these areas.

Functional relationships are maintained with colleagues in the Office of Continuing Education, the Research Foundation, the Public Information Office, faculty, support staff, campus administration, and members of the surrounding business community, municipal officers, and social religious organizations.

Preferred Qualifications:

A Master's degree in Business Administration, Education Administration, Public Administration, or other relevant discipline. Four years of relevant work experience, preferably in planning, accounting and budgeting.
