Assistant for Continuing Education (SL3)

This title is in the unclassified service and in the SUNY Professional Services Negotiating Unit.

Positions in this family are involved in the administration of a continuing education program at a campus, which may include credit and non-credit evening and other courses, special institutes and workshops, long and short-term courses for professional, business, and labor organizations, alumni and cultural offerings, and general studies for the culturally disadvantaged. A continuing education program reflects a concern with the continuing educational development of the individual, offering counseling to identify experiences and interests by relating them to the academic credit and non-credit offerings of the campus. Such a program may be designed in conjunction with business, industry, and units of state and local government in developing career service programs to meet the needs of employees in these areas.

The Assistant for Continuing Education is involved is such diverse areas as student advisement, retention, recruitment, and registration of students in continuing education programs. The incumbent must have a through knowledge of general institutional information and programs offered by the Office of Continuing Education. Typical duties include, but are not limited to:

Preferred Qualifications:

A Bachelor's Degree. Knowledge of current University policies and procedures is highly desirable.
