This title is in the unclassified service and is designated Managerial/Confidential. Appointees to Managerial/Confidential titles serve at the pleasure of the chief administrative officer and are not represented for collective negotiations.

Positions in this family are concerned with planning and development, design and construction, equipping, rehabilitation, repair, maintenance and operation of University campus physical facilities.

VICE PRESIDENT FOR FACILITIES PLANNING reports to the President of a large and complex campus and is responsible, in close coordination with the teaching, research and public service programs, for the total short/ long-range facilities planning, construction, major rehabilitation, and space utilization program on campus. In coordination with the academic, student personnel, finance and management, physical plant operation and maintenance, and other programs on campus, directs planning, construction, substantial rehabilitation and related programs; frequently works with System Administration, the State University Construction Fund, and consultant architects and engineers; coordinates closely the functions of the facilities program with those of the physical plant operation; in cooperation with academic and other executives on campus; directs activities in space development, utilization, and rear- arrangements provides facilities expertise to committees. Coordinates development with local government, agencies and citizen groups.

Preferred Qualifications:

Advanced degrees in the fields of architecture, planning, or engineering and a registered architect's certificate, a registered planner's certificate, or a professional engineer's license or equivalent national recognition and several years of significant and major experience in the planning and development of higher education facilities.
