TEACHING ASSISTANT, performs teaching assistance at a campus, while concurrently holding graduate student status. Does related work as required. Assists faculty members by teaching part-time in undergraduate classes; supplements faculty instruction and classroom supervision of a faculty member. Ordinarily pursues a graduate program 2/3 or 3/4 time; usually receives a tuition waiver and cash stipend for support.
Teaching Assistants may be awarded full assistantships or half assistantships. Graduate student employees on a full/half assistantship are generally expected to provide 20/10 hours of service per week. Employees in this bargaining unit are engaged in professional activities of such a nature that the output produced or the result accomplished often cannot be precisely measured in relation to a given period of time. It is therefore anticipated that there will be fluctuations above and below these general expectations.
