Teacher/Technician (SL2)

 

This title is in the unclassified service and in the SUNY Professional Services Negotiating Unit.

The Teacher/Technician has hands-on responsibility for the building and running of a particular technical segment of ESIPA productions; trains interns in the practical applications of the specialty area, and works on maintenance, inventory, and storage as assigned.

The Teacher/Technician constructs and assembles materials in the area of technical theatre under the supervision of a department head. Serves on the running crew for his/her area on all ESIPA productions, and for guest artists and rentals as needed. Assists in the load-in, day-to-day maintenance and striking of areas for each ESIPA production. Works with and trains interns as they are assigned to the area. Shops for materials as assigned. Assists in the maintenance of tools and equipment, takes inventory, and maintains the storage areas as assigned.

The Teacher/Technician must demonstrate initiative and an ability to proceed with projects once assigned with a minimum of supervision.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Technical Theatre or Theatre (equivalent experience acceptable. Two to three years experience in technical theatre.
