Senior Teacher/Technician (SL3)

 

This title is in the unclassified service and in the SUNY Professional Services Negotiating Unit.

A Senior Teacher/Technician functions as a technical department head through the overall supervision of personnel, budget and inventory in his area. Incumbent coordinates the building, assembling and running of all ESIPA productions in his area, and provides assistance as necessary for guest artists and rentals; supervises departmental staff, interns and consultants.

A Senior Teacher/Technician supervises each technical department. Works with designers, estimates design costs and maintains per-production budgets, organizes work schedule for his shop staff, determines consonancy needs, oversees construction and assembly of department's production requirements, and oversees the running of each ESIPA production in his or her area. Provides similar services as necessary for guest artists and rentals. Teaches in-house classes and in services, and teaches and evaluates interns. Acts as a resource in his area for the education department and the community. Responsible for the maintenance of equipment in his shop, inventory, and storage of his materials.

The Senior Teacher/Technical must demonstrate supervisory abilities and a high degree of special skills in the pertinent area of technical theatre.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Technical Theatre or Theatre (equivalent experience acceptable). Three to four years experience in technical theatre.
