Senior Research Associate (R1)

This title is in the unclassified service and in the SUNY Professional Services Negotiating Unit.

Positions in this family are directly engaged in sponsored research, with salary derived from extramural funds for the specific time period covered by the funds. Although a professional employee, appointees possess full faculty qualifications and ordinarily are engaged at a salary within the range for a faculty position. Such appointments are within the academic departments of a college, and involve professional responsibility in close coordination with instructional faculty, graduate students, and advanced undergraduate students. Appointments to these positions may be full-time or part-time, calendar year or college year, depending upon the conditions of the grant, although a full-time calendar year appointment is customary.

SENIOR RESEARCH ASSOCIATE is equivalent to a senior faculty member and as such supervises an entire, or a significant portion of a research project.

Preferred Qualifications:

Possess full faculty qualifications equal to an Associate Professor or a Professor.
