This title is in the unclassified service and is designated Managerial/Confidential. Appointees to Managerial/Confidential titles serve at the pleasure of the chief administrative officer and are not represented for collective negotiations.
Presidential Staff positions provide a broad range of administrative services to the chief executive officer of a campus. The specific position responsibilities vary from generalized administrative tasks of a professional nature to those of a highly specialized and specific nature. These positions are intended to relieve the chief administrative officer of various program aspects.
Serves as a confidential assistant to the campus President, with major responsibility for overseeing the President's Office support staff and/or preparation of major presidential reports and projects.
Duties typically include such activities as: developing complex analyses and reports for internal and external review such as budget requests, accreditation reports etc.; preparing speeches and other presidential presentations to campus and community groups; coordinating special projects, awards, and visits by major public figures; acting as a liaison to internal governance, policy-making bodies, and external community groups; drafting responses to faculty, student, staff, parent, and alumni concerns, and other campus inquiries; coordinating personnel transactions, office systems and the financial administration of the President's office.
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced degree in a professionally related discipline. Three to five years of professional experience in higher education, public sector management or campus-related enterprise; or three years of faculty experience, one of which must have been at an administrative level. Experience in staff supervision highly desirable.
