This title is in the unclassified service and in the SUNY Professional Services Negotiating Unit.

Positions in this family are directly engaged in sponsored research, from extramural funds for the specific time period covered by the funds. Appointees possess full faculty qualifications and ordinarily are engaged at a salary within the range for a faculty position. Such appointments are within the academic departments of a college, and involve professional responsibility in close coordination with instructional faculty, graduate students, and advanced undergraduate students. Appointments to these positions may be full-time or part-time, academic year, calendar year or college year, depending upon the conditions of the grant and the title to which appointed, although a full-time calendar year appointment is customary.

Project Director, supervises a university academic, research, facilities, or public service project which is usually supported with extramural funds and for which the execution of requires specialized professional training and advanced experience. Does related work as required. Such projects are always related to the basic instructional mission, and ordinarily involve the coordination of participation by faculty and students.

Preferred Qualifications:

A Doctorate supplemented by satisfactory experience in higher education and the specialty which the particular project requires.
