Instructional Support Technician (SL3)

 

This title is in the unclassified service and in the SUNY Professional Services Negotiating Unit.

Positions in this family provide skilled, specialized assistance to faculty, staff, students and various publics in instructional research, library services, and other educationally related programs or projects.

Serves on the instructional support staff. Under direct supervision incumbents set up equipment and materials to carry out experiments. Conducts or supervises operation of experiments. The technician provides quality control of materials used in experiments. Provides advice and instruction in use of equipment, materials, etc., and in the recording of determinations. Incumbents may interview, screen and instruct clients involved in research projects.

In a library, may catalog additions where problems are encountered in the record or where judgement or interpretation is required; assist patrons at the reference desk with little supervision required; work with specialized materials; conduct complete bibliographic searches and place complex orders; supervise professional and support staff.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree and two years experience in the appropriate discipline.
