This title is in the unclassified service and in the SUNY Professional Services Negotiating Unit.

Positions in this family provide skilled, specialized assistance to faculty, staff, students and various publics in instructional research, library services, and other educationally related programs or projects.

Serves on the instructional support staff. Incumbents of these positions complete the design and planning of experiments in a unit or laboratory combining several experimental programs. Plans and assigns work to staff working in laboratory or group setting. Maintains or supervises a sophisticated maintenance program involving critical equipment, plants, animals, microorganisms or other materials found in experiments. Advises on the use of equipment and materials in laboratory settings. Assists in the development of recommendations for laboratory improvements. These positions may be found in departmental instructional laboratories, commonly at senior division or graduate levels of instruction. They are of a specialized nature and the incumbents are expert in highly complex pursuits such as electron microscopy, nuclear acceleration, celestial and terrestrial optics, computer graphics, plate tectonics, and other sciences.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree and three years experience in the appropriate discipline.
