Instructional Support Assistant (SL1)

 

This title is in the unclassified service and in the SUNY Professional Services Negotiating Unit.

Positions in this family provide skilled, specialized assistance to faculty, staff, students and various publics in instructional research, library services, and other educationally related programs or projects.

Serves on the instructional support staff. Under direct supervision incumbents store, maintain, issue and set up specialized educational and research supplies and equipment. The assistant operates such equipment during demonstrations and lectures or instructs faculty or student assistants in the operation of such equipment. In addition, assistants conduct experiments, recording and analyzing the results under the supervision of senior instructional personnel. In a library, the duties may include basic on-line searching, cataloging and both written and verbal communication with supervisors, peers and support staff.

Preferred Qualifications:

Associate's degree in the appropriate discipline.
