Financial Aid Assistant (SL2)

This title is in the unclassified service and in the SUNY Professional Services Negotiating Unit.

As a family, the financial aid titles administer the student financial aid program on a campus. Incumbents interpret and advise students on federal and State University financial aid programs, assisting students and parents in determining need and eligibility for various student aid funds.

Serves on the campus financial aid staff. Performs work similar to a Financial Aid Advisor, but under closer supervision because of inexperience and a lack of familiarity with guidelines and administrative requirements, for the allocation of all aid programs. Probably does not make independent decisions on aid awards.

Preferred Qualifications:

A Bachelor's degree preferably with a Master's degree in progress and related financial aid experience.
