This title is in the unclassified service and is designated Managerial/Confidential. Appointees to Managerial/Confidential titles serve at the pleasure of the chief administrative officer and are not represented for collective negotiations.

Positions in this family are concerned with planning and development, design and construction, equipping, rehabilitation, repair, maintenance and operation of University campus physical facilities.

FACILITIES DIRECTOR, at an existing campus, is responsible for the development and expansion of campus physical facilities. Does related work as required. Advises the President and' staff in the facilities development area; works in conjunction with Central Administration offices, the SUNY Construction Fund, the Dormitory Authority, and major administrators of the campus in developing campus buildings and other facilities; ensures that these facilities support and embrace the present and long-range, educational and other campus programs; advises' and maintains liaison with architects, engineers and construction firms during the design and construction stage of campus development; coordinates program efforts with those of the physical plant organization; serves on major campus committees; keeps aware of the latest changes in the higher education campus -physical development area. At a new campus' positions performing this function are titled Facilities Director to reflect the different responsibilities in planning a Campus from the outset.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in architecture or engineering and significant and major experience in the development of higher education-campus physical facilities.
