This title is in the unclassified service and in the SUNY Professional Services Negotiating Unit. This title is in Appendix A of the SUNY Policies of the Board of Trustees and, as a consequence, incumbents serving in this title are not eligible for permanent appointment (tenure), but, instead receive five year renewable term appointments.
The Director of International Education serves as a catalyst for the leadership and supervision of a campuses international activity. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: developing plans and policies for the international dimensions of campus educational programs and services; establishing and maintaining a comprehensive file of overseas opportunity grants and fellowships; directing a foreign student program, including the recruitment, selection, admission, orientation, and advising of students from abroad; allocating and administering the program budget, tailoring academic and research studies to established curriculum.
Preferred Qualifications:
A Ph.D with five to seven years experience in areas such as internal exchange and advisement, comparative studies and international studies and programming. Experience in living and working in another culture is highly desirable.
