As a family, positions in the Career Planning and Development series have responsibility for assisting and counseling students in relation to a post-graduation placement program.
Oversees and directs the operation of career planning and development office on a particular campus. Supervises a staff of subordinate professional and clerical employees involved in the career planning and development function. Due to the diversity of the student population, must deal with a wide variety of employers and employment issues. Develops and implements improved methods and programs to provide individual and group career counseling. Aids potential employers in the evaluation of candidates. Works with deans, chairman, major faculty members, and employers in developing information banks on career and position requirements and opportunities for college trained persons. Confers with administrators and employers concerning placement accomplishments, problems, and goals including identification of curriculum and extension needs to serve the public. Develops and submits budget recommendations and oversees the allocation of funds.
Preferred Qualifications:
A Master's degree and significant experience in career counseling and placement. Managerial and supervisory experience is required.
