Director of Art Museum (SL5)

This title is in the Unclassified Service and in the SUNY Professional Services Negotiating Unit. This title is in Appendix A of the SUNY Policies of the Board of Trustees and, as a consequence, incumbents serving in this title are not eligible for permanent appointment (tenure), but, instead receive five year renewable term appointments.

Is responsible for the general administration of the Art Museum and its staff and the scheduling and implementation of exhibitions, establishes and maintains environmental and security conditions for the collection, develops an education program that serves the needs of the Center's various constituents, directs the registration and allocation of the permanent collection of the museum, and identifies and pursues new means of fund raising and works of art donations for purposes of the maintenance and augmentation of the collection.

Preferred Qualifications:

Professional education and experience in museum or art administration required. Qualifications for adjunct faculty position in the visual arts desirable.
