This title is in the unclassified service and in the SUNY Professional Services Negotiating Unit. This title is in Appendix A of the SUNY Policies of the Board of Trustees and, as a consequence, incumbents serving in this title are not eligible for permanent appointment (tenure), but, instead receive five year renewable term appointments.

The Director of Home Economics Education acts as chief administrative officer of a home economics division at a campus. Does related work as required. Develops and administers divisional policy in home economics; provides leadership for innovative research and programs, representing the division in applications for external funding; assists in the recruitment of qualified academic staff on a national basis; promotes an ongoing dialog with school and state officials and with leaders in business and industry for the development of cooperative programs; pre pares, presents, and manages the divisional budget by establishing priorities among the divisional departments; supervises an advisement program for graduate and undergraduate students; is responsible for the maintenance of student divisional records; supervises and evaluates the academic staff of the division; represents the division at national, state and local professional meetings and campus academic activities; cooperates with division directors and department chairmen in developing interdisciplinary programs.

Preferred Qualifications:

A Doctorate with major emphasis on home economics in its broadest context; teaching experience at the high school or college level; evidence of successful administrative or supervisory experience.
