Director of Facilities Planning (Engineering) (MP)

 

This title is in the unclassified service and is designated Managerial/Confidential. Appointees to Managerial/Confidential titles serve at the pleasure of the chief administrative officer and are not represented for collective negotiations.

Positions in this family are concerned with policy, planning, budgeting and overall management of SUNY's capital facilities program, in close coordination with the State University Construction Fund and Dormitory Authority.

DIRECTOR OF FACILITIES PLANNING (ENGINEERING) , supervises the activities of professional personnel who coordinate all engineering services with campus architects and equipment specialists, and other personnel of the Division of Facilities Planning and of the Real Property Sections. Develops engineering procedures and policies necessary to translate academic plans into physical facilities; reviews and evaluates plans and reports submitted by consultants, campus personnel and others; confers with representatives of the campuses, local governments, businesses, other State agencies, architects and utility corporations; reviews all utility and site preparation drawings developed by the State University Construction Fund consultants; assists in the preparation and processing of consulting land surveyor contracts required to obtain property acquisition maps; develops and reviews data for all contracts between municipalities and State University which pertain to various utilities and services provided to university facilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

A Bachelor's degree in civil engineering and significant major engineering experience in higher education facilities planning, or a satisfactory equivalent combination of education and experience.
