This title is in the unclassified service and in the SUNY Professional Services Negotiating Unit. These titles are in Appendix A of the SUNY Policies of the Board of Trustees and, as a consequence, incumbents serving in this title are not eligible for permanent appointment (tenure), but, instead receive five year renewable term appointments. Generally this title has duties and responsibilities similar to those assigned to Director of Educational Opportunity Program although this title could be assigned responsibility for programs involving others besides students (employees).

Director Equality of Opportunity Program has the full responsibility for the leadership, management and supervision of the operation of the Educational Opportunity Program at a SUNY campus.

The Director prepares the complete budget of the program and authorizes and administers all expenditures made by the program; coordinates the interaction of the staff with other units of the Campus and the University; is responsible for maintaining accurate records on the program and preparing status and statistical reports; is responsible for recruiting, selecting, and evaluating staff members; establishes and maintains records and research into student performance and program effectiveness; and represents and interprets the program to the University, relevant governmental bodies, the public, and the students.

Preferred Qualifications:

Terminal degree in Counseling, Higher Education, Educational Administration or a related area. A minimum of three years experience in post-secondary education administration and adequate experience in program planning, budget formulation, and management. Experience in counseling, curriculum development, college admissions, or student financial did is highly desirable.
