This title is in the unclassified service and in the SUNY Professional Services Negotiating Unit.
Positions in this broad general grouping are involved with the administering of the campus business affairs to support and enhance the academic purpose of the campus. 'They include but are not limited to accounting, budget development, administration and control, the bursary, payroll, and internal audit. Supervision is generally provided by the chief business officer -- either a Vice President for Administration or Director of Business Affairs -- and functional specialists assigned as needed.
COLLEGE ACCOUNTANT (SL4), under direction of the chief business officer, supervises a campus accounting program and designs systems required to carry out their function. Ensures that the accounting and financial reporting functions of an educational institution are consistent with the accepted principles of college and university accounting for educational programs, research, grants, contracts, auxiliary enterprises, food service, athletics, affiliated centers and institutes, and federal programs; is responsible for charge back of services to campus academic and administrative departments.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or Higher Education Administration with two years experience in an appropriate field.
