This title is in the unclassified service and is designated Managerial/Confidential. Appointees to Managerial/Confidential titles serve at the pleasure of the chief administrative officer and are not represented for collective negotiations.

ASSISTANT VICE PRESIDENT FOR GRADUATE STUDIES AND RESEARCH

Assistant Vice President (various designations) functions as second-in-charge of a vice president's responsibilities. Acts as Vice President when Vice President is unavailable; directs all or part of the activities of the office depending on the delegation desired by the vice president' supervises personnel in the total or in parts of the program; aids the vice president by chairing or participating in meetings.

Preferred Qualifications:

An advanced degree and a substantial number of years of faculty, academic administrative, and managerial experience, especially in the areas denoted by the title.
