This title is in the unclassified service and is designated Managerial/Confidential. Appointees to Managerial/Confidential titles serve at the pleasure of the chief administrative officer and are not represented for collective negotiations.
Positions in this area are concerned principally with improving communications and relations with both the university's internal and external constituencies in order to insure university accountability for its activities, make well-known its educational opportunities, and make understandable its plans and policies. As such, University Affairs is a direct public service function.
ASSISTANT PUBLIC RELATIONS OFFICER, working for the Public Relations Officer, serves as assistant university press officer or, working for the Director of Communications, serves as director of publications. Acts as the assistant university press officer in all the functions for the Public Relations Officer; or in the capacity of director of publications, writes, edits, produces and supervises the distribution of many formal publications, brochures and other documents of the university.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in journalism or a related field and experience in editorial work and writing.
