Assistant for Institutional Research (SL3)

This title is in the unclassified service and in the SUNY Professional Services Negotiating Unit.

Positions in this series are concerned with the collection and interpretation of data derived from institutional research studies conducted to provide a basis for administrative decision- making at both campus and university-wide levels. The major areas of concern in an institutional research program are administrative studies, behavioral research, planning studies, and information system creation although there may be consider- able variation in the attention accorded each of these areas at the various campuses. An institutional research program ordinarily encompasses studies of students, faculty, curriculum, enrollment, finance, and other areas of higher education in an effort to generate information about unit costs, speak utilization, class size, staff workload, institutional quality and student success.

Assists in the analysis and presentation of data derived from studies conducted as part of a program in institutional research. Does related work as required. Obtains, develops and coordinates information required for answering questionnaires; completes reports of institutional information requested by intramural and external agencies; performs related research activities as requested.

Preferred Qualifications:

A Bachelor's degree with one year of experience in the collection and analysis of statistical data. Professional experience in higher education is desirable.
