Assistant Director of Counseling (SL5)

This title is in the unclassified service and in the SUNY Professional Services Negotiating Unit.

As a family, the psychological counseling series provides students with a comprehensive campus counseling service including psychotherapy, personal counseling, educational and vocational counseling, and testing services.

Serves as the chief assistant to the Director of Counseling in discharging the responsibilities of that office and supervises professional employees. Does related work as required. May supervise all the functions within the counseling center such as psychotherapy, educational, vocational, and personal counseling and testing services. In addition to his/her supervisory responsibilities, the incumbent may be a specialist in one of the above areas; may aid in special programs as designated by the Director of Counseling such as participating in the training of residential life or specialized programs with faculty and administration.

Preferred Qualifications:

Ph.D. in psychology or equivalent. In addition, an applicant should have three (3) to five (5) years of experience in clinical/ counseling position. Supervisory experience is required.
