This title is in the unclassified service and is designated Managerial/Confidential. Appointees to Managerial/Confidential titles serve at the pleasure of the chief administrative officer and are not represented for collective negotiations.
Positions in this broad general grouping are involved with the administering of the campus business affairs to support and enhance the academic purpose of the campus. 'They include but are not limited to accounting, budget development, administration and control, the bursar, payroll, and internal audit. Supervision is generally provided by the chief business officer -- either a Vice President for Administration or Director of Business Affairs -- and functional specialists assigned as needed.
ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF BUSINESS AFFAIRS, at a larger University campus serves as the chief assistant to the Director of Business Affairs in discharging the responsibilities of that office. Supervises all the functions within the business office, such as accounting, budgeting, the bursar, purchasing, etc.; in addition to supervisory responsibilities may be a specialist in one of the above areas and concurrently serve as the unit supervisor of that area; aids in special programs as designated by the Director of Business Affairs, such as budget and fiscal studies and projects. This classification is not used as a lower level Director and is not allocated in lieu of the latter; it will be assigned only where the position Director of Business Affairs is in existence.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or Higher Education Administration.
